[BONDURANT, IA – October 11, 2023] The City of Bondurant is delighted to announce that Lake Petocka Park, its scenic trail, and the Pawtocka Dog Park have officially reopened to the public. After a brief closure for essential trail rehabilitation work, the park and trail are now accessible to residents and visitors, offering a revitalized outdoor experience.
Dedicated construction contractors worked tirelessly to enhance the existing trail surrounding Lake Petocka. This rehabilitation effort involved significant changes to the trail's grade in some areas and laid the foundation for a brand-new asphalt surface.
"We're thrilled to have completed this project, which will greatly improve the quality of the park and trail," said John Horton, Bondurant Public Works Director. "The changes to the trail's grade and the new surface will provide park users with a more enjoyable and safe experience."
As the restoration work on the trail has been completed, park users can now access the area once more. However, it's essential to note that while the trail and park are open, some minor restoration work may continue around the trail's edge. As a result, park users are urged to exercise caution when using the facilities in the coming days until all work is fully completed.
"The safety of our residents and visitors remains our top priority. We ask everyone to be mindful of the ongoing restoration work as they enjoy the park," stated Nicole Van Houten, Communications and Events Coordinator.
The reopening of Lake Petocka Park and the Pawtocka Dog Park means that the entire community can once again enjoy the Bondurant scenery, outdoor activities, and time spent with their furry friends. The park offers a serene environment for relaxation, exercise, and connection with nature.
